Jars of Clay lead singer rocks onto bestseller lists

(TRAVERSE CITY, MI) September 12, 2007 — Just one week after its release, Dan Haseltine’s The One, The Only, Magnificent Me is rocketing up the charts of the book world, debuting as the #1 children’s book on the Spring Arbor Bestseller List, and #9 for all Christian titles. Spring Arbor is the largest wholesaler of Christian books in the country. Outside of the Christian market, the book is already #2 for illustrated children’s books and #47 for all books on the Top 100 Bestseller List at Ingram Book Group, the largest book wholesaler in the United States.

The One, The Only, Magnificent Me
is written by Dan Haseltine, lead singer for multi-GRAMMY, multi-platinum band Jars of Clay and is illustrated by Joel Schoon Tanis, award-winning artist and Emmy-winning host of the children’s television show, Come On Over!

Magnificent Me
has already been called “Part Dr. Seuss, part Shel Silverstein” and has been getting glowing reviews from all over the country. Amy Sondova, editor of YMX & YMX:ALL ACCESS raved, “Haseltine’s skills as a songwriter may only be paralleled by his skills as a children’s author.” Other admirers have enthusiastically declared that the book “is at the top of my list for children’s books” and that “the illustrations are perfect, crescendoing with the brilliant rhyme and meter of the story.”

Haseltine, who acknowledged that the story was autobiographical, was thrilled at the immediate reception for Magnificent Me. “Joel and I worked very hard on it, putting so much energy and emotion into the book. The stores have been incredible and the teachers, parents, and children have been so supportive—it’s wonderful that they feel so strongly about it. It is very humbling to be compared to such iconic authors—they are heroes of mine.”

Tanis was equally thrilled. “I’m excited to go on tour starting next week and talk with the stores and share this story with them. The book is beautiful and I am so proud and happy that it can be making an impact on people’s lives—it is incredibly fulfilling.”

In addition to Haseltine’s touring throughout the country with Jars of Clay, Tanis is on a national television tour, painting live and doing finished paintings for charity.

The One, The Only, Magnificent Me
is available at all Target stores nationwide, as well as Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Christian and independent bookstores around the country. Please visit www.mackinacislandpress.com for further details.

Solemnly Swear by Nancy Moser

Coming in January 2008.

Summary

Patti McCoy, a kitchen worker at a local resort, is accused of killing her boyfriend, Brett Lerner, the restaurant’s maitre d’. But was she simply in the wrong place at the wrong time? It’s up to the jury to decide. Each member comes from a different background, but one in particular has a lot at stake by being on this jury. Her husband was actually the last person to see the victim alive. The circumstantial evidence against Patti, however, is piling up, and the jury--although torn--has no alternatives. Will the real murderer be discovered before it’s too late?

Back Cover Copy

Justice isn’t always blind.

Patti McCoy is on trial for killing her boyfriend, Brett Lerner, a maĆ®tre d’ at the restaurant where Patti worked. But was she simply in the wrong place at the wrong time?

It’s up to the members of the jury to decide. Among the twelve, there’s Ken, a has-been golf pro; Abigail, a once-famous actress way past her prime; Bobby, a financially struggling family man; and Deidre, the socialite wife of a prominent doctor. All have prejudices that taint how they view justice. What they don’t know is that more than one life hangs on their decision. . . .

During the trial, Patti McCoy isn’t the only one who has to deal with innocence and guilt.

Or judgment.

Nancy Moser has this to say on her website:

It's an odd occurrence when characters don't behave themselves. In the writing of this book some characters behaved nicely, and others had the audacity to try to hide themselves-from me of all people! Little did they know how tenacious and stubborn I am, and that I would prevail. I did prevail, but it was often exhausting.

Kill Me If You Can by Nicole Young

Hot on the heels of her debut novel Love Me If You Must, Nicole Young returns with a, er, "killer" of a title for her sophomore fiction offering: Kill Me If You Can. Coming in April 2008, this is Book #2 in the Patricia Amble mystery series.

Summary:

Patricia Amble might be down, but she's not dead--yet. As if she didn't already have enough questions about her mother's suicide, Tish is forced to confront one more. She is renovating a northern Michigan log cabin, one in which she spent her childhood summers. But what she finds doesn't speak of carefree vacations in the woods: a torn photo of her mother with the words "don't ask why" written across her face. Combined with mysterious relatives and a backwoods drug ring, this 26-year-old mystery may be more than she can handle. Tish must put the pieces all together or risk losing everything--including her life. Book 2 in the Patricia Amble Mystery series, Kill Me If You Can is a suspense-packed story of family secrets, long-distance romance, and the renovation of the heart.
