Yesterday's Embers by Deborah Raney

Another novel coming in March 2009 is Deborah Raney's Yesterday's Embers, the third and last novel in her Clayburn series. But never fear. She's recently signed on with Howard Books for another series, so fans can look forward to more from her in the future.

Summary:

Tragedy has left Doug DeVore with five children to raise alone. When Mickey Valdez, the children’s daycare teacher, lends a helping hand, sparks flicker between them and quickly ignite. But romance and real life are two very different things, and too late, Doug and Mickey realize they've said "I do" to something neither of them bargained for. Now they must find a way to untangle their knot of hasty choices without breaking the hearts of five precious children—or their own—in the process.

Only such a promise is never guaranteed. And life can change in a moment. The Brightons life is turned upside down when Johns daughter Jana abandons her husband Mark and three-year-old daughter. John and Julia reach out to young Ellie, to give the young couple time to heal, but how can they help this child, so confused and longing for Mommy? And how much sorrow and stress can both fledgling marriages endure? Two very different couples, each with only their love and faith to guide them, can only pray that it will be enough.

Leaving November by Deborah Raney coming March '08

Coming in March 2008 from Howard Books is Book #2 in the Clayburn series from Deborah Raney.

Back cover copy (subject to change):

Eight years ago, Vienne Kenney moved away from Clayburn and all its gossip to pursue a law degree in California. But now she’’s failed the bar exam...again. Is she destined to be stuck forever, a failure——just like her father—— in this two-horse Kansas town?

Nine months ago, Jackson Linder left Clayburn, with no explanation to anybody. Now he’s back. But he isn’t sure he’’s ready to face the rumors and well-meaning questions of the town’’s busybodies. Yet he’s determined, once more, to make his art gallery a success——in spite of the secret that haunts him every day...

Deb told us she is looking forward to working on Book #3. Says Deb, "[It] will take two minor characters from the first books and throw them together in a very challenging and fun way, I hope!"
